Hi, I’m Anna. I’m a DONA certified birth doula, serving the Triangle area of NC. I was inspired to become a doula after the birth of my first daughter. Birth is a beautiful thing and something I am extremely passionate about. I believe every woman has the right to have her ideal birth, and I am here to help her achieve that, no matter the place or method of birth.
I am willing to work with any individual, no matter the circumstances. However, I have a special interest in working with those who have suffered from PTSD from past sexual abuse or a previous traumatic birth experience. While I do not believe birth can “cure” PTSD. I do believe when a woman has a positive birth experience it allows her to view her body in a much different light. She feels empowered and in control of her body, rather than betrayed by her body.
I find that I learn something new from each woman I work with. Each mother I work with has a true inner strength and beauty, and each birth is special. My goal with each birth I attend, is that when it's all over mom and dad can say, "We did it." That even if the birth did not go exactly as planned, that they still felt empowered and confident in every decision that they made.
When not "doula-ing" I stay busy being a wife, and a mother to my two amazing daughters. Helping them learn and grow is my greatest passion; however, they usually end up teaching me far more than I could ever teach them. I also host a monthly birth circle, where moms can get together, and discuss birth related topics, as well as, make friends with other parents in the same stage of life. I also love to read and write. Nothing beats curling up with a good book!
